Dr. Christopher J. Dollar was born in Metro Detroit. He spent his early years in Huntington Woods before moving to Troy. He earned a Biochemistry degree from Central Michigan University in 1995, and received his doctorate from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2007. After graduating, Dr. Dollar was an Associate at multiple group practices in Clinton Township, Shelby and Clarkston. While an Associate, Dr. Dollar envisioned what “brand” of dentistry he would like to practice. Fortunately, he found Berkley’s Dr. Roger Black DDS and developed a strong working relationship with him.
Dr. Dollar’s brand of dentistry focuses on trust and family. He is committed to the team, and sees his team as an extension of his own family. He focuses on the strengths of his team, and believes time spent together should involve talking, listening and laughing.
Dr Dollar is an advocate of continuing education, for both himself and his team. He is an active member in several organizations, including, Omicron Kappa Upsilon, American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Macomb-Oakland Dental Association, United States Dental Institute and the Berkley Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Dollar has been married for 15 years and has two boys. In his free time he enjoys being with friends, family and spending time outdoors. He has become an avid runner, participating in multiple charity events.
Things you don’t know about Dr. Dollar:
1. His nickname is “Bill” (as in “Dollar Bill”)2. He loves Halloween and enjoys making (and wearing!) great costumes3. He could have his own “Dirty Jobs” TV show, based on his previous employment experience - just ask him4. He owns a Harley Davidson motorcycle, but doesn’t ride it enough5. He hates reading maps/directions, but has no problem asking for directions
Graduated from University of Detroit Mercy Dental School in 2002 with my degree in Dental Hygiene and a Bachelors of Science. I am married and have 2 children. My husband is a Registered Nurse and works for McLaren Macomb. My son is a catcher for a travel baseball team, the St Clair Shores Mariners. My husband and I are very involved with the team. He coaches, I am the treasurer and we both help organize team fundraisers. My daughter is a college student and works for a pet store chain. Our family has many pets: 2 dogs that we rescued, a cat, a tarantula, and 2 geckos! As a family we enjoy the outdoors: camping, hiking and spending time up north at the family property in Mancelona.
I am very involved with my professional dental hygiene organization. I have served in many roles at the local as well as state level. I truly believe that all persons, no matter what their “trade”, shall take an active role in that organization that has their best interests in mind. Currently, I am the Awards Chair for the Michigan Dental Hygienists' Association where we acknowledge those members who have reached lifetime member status and/or who have contributed significantly to the advancement of the dental hygiene profession.
